Scott was "the original" frontman(well, technically not because of Evans) however Johnson did a fantastic job of filling his shoes, in my opinion...which do you guys think was better?

Bon was a size 9, Brian is a size 8, so "technically" he didn't "fill" his shoes.......... Welcome to the forum BTW!

Depends on how you look at it.

I think Brian is a better overall singer when it comes to technique, but Bon just fit with the band better, he was their voice. Kind of like how Slade was AC/DC's best drummer but Phil was THE drummer.
  3.
Very true. Scott's rather menacing appearance and personality fit the band better than Johnson's...speaking of him Happy Birthday Bon Scott!

I always thought Bon talked more than he did actually sing, while Brian sounded like he just popped hemorrhoid trying to hit the notes he did.

Brian Johnson gave AC/DC its mainstream identity. The band, for a period of time, became known for HIS voice.

Bon Scott is the epitome of a showman, and the two of them together were some of the best lyricists rock has ever seen. How awesome is that?

Both immortal, and both represent a different era of the band. Brian Johnson was the perfect fit for the 80s AC/DC, and Bon was perfect for the 70s. Not sure if either could have flip-flopped, but both are immortal and are collectively, in my opinion, the voice of AC/DC.

    Bon. No contest.

AC/DC are my favourite two bands.

Bon and Beano my favourite two singers.

To say that Beano was the perfect fit for the 80's AC/DC implies that Bon wouldn't have been. AC/DC were massively 'better' with Bon in the band. And yes I know that BIB is fucking insanely good album, but really put together a top 20 AC/DC tracks and in a massive majority Bon will dominate. That is why the setlist is still full of Bon era tracks. AC/DC were better with Bon in the band. Better frontman, better lyricist. One seminal album from the Beano era. Three (minimum) from the Bon era.

I think with the way the AC/DC sound changed through the 80s, Brian was better fit for it. Imagine Bon singing Two's Up.

Not at all knocking either. Both incredible. Bon helped build the foundation. Brian topped the building off.

Bon wouldn't have written Two's Up. And AC/DC have been less of a cartoon band or not even going by then. And looking dispassionately that probably would have been a better thing in terms of legacy because they haven't produced anything of quality for over 20 years.

Not album-wise. But Ballbreaker the song is as good as any other they ever did.

I was always a Bon guy BUT Brian kept the band alive...Without Bon, there would be no Brian and without Brian there would be no AC/DC.

Ballbreaker the song is certainly a top twenty Beano era tune. As good as anything they have ever done? Not for me by a long chalk. Can think of at least 20 Bon songs and many Beano tunes that are 'better'.

Live BB was immense as it had extra pace. Rubin's production robbed AC/DC of some of their power and flow. BB on record is a fraction slow. For me. Cracking track. Not sure they have done anything near it since.

Dude, I'm pretty sure this is the first time this has been posted in the history of this forum. I'm surprised it took this long actually. Relax...

They're so different, that you can't say who's better. They're just, different. However, I can choose what period from the band I like more, and that''s the Bon era.

However again, the band's best period from history is considered to be 1977-1983 which is 3 for Bon and 3 for Brian...

In a nutshell, I love both, but if I HAD to pick one, i'd say Bon

This question won't go away and can't be answered too many variables to consider. If Bon had lived would they have wrote BIB probably not, they were a hungrier band with Bon trying to break the UK, Europe and the states, different styles of writing, poor production throughout the 80's naturally had an effect on album sales and popularity. Fete brought Brian and the boys together and nothing can change that just enjoy both era's I personally don't think anyone else could have done what Brian did.
  12.
Bon is the master in a lyrical point of view. In the end, Brian became a massive part of AC/DC's worldwide image. But Bon brought gave the band the solide base, and some genius albums.

Here's where I think this debate always goes off the rails - someone is unable to articulate why they think another persons opinion is wrong and resorts to insults. A bit like when carlos is a total fucking dickhead for having most of his opinions.

For me, it's Bon. Far superior lyrics, superior stage presence and just a total fucking legend of the business. Eternally young. Eternally alive. I prefer Bon-era songs - it's as simple as that.

With that said, I do not wish to diminish Brian's contribution to the band and the music I love. Brian Johnson was the ONLY man who could take over from Bon. He is undeniably a total fucking legend of the business, a gentleman and perfect for the band. I have as much respect for Brian as I do for Bon.

And if you don't agree, suck a dick ;)
