Just a bit of fun, even if similar discussions have occurred before. No wrong answers, let's see what you consider AC/DCs best album, their worst, your favorite, your guilty pleasure even though you know it's generally not considered their best and the album that everyone loves but you feel is simply overrated (even if you nevertheless like it):

    Best: Back In Black
    Worst: Ballbreaker
    Personal favorite: Powerage
Guilty pleasure: Blow Up Your Video
    Overrated: Highway To Hell

How about the rest of you?

    Best: 10 track German Powerage
    Worst: Impossible to say
Personal Favourite: 10 track German Powerage
    GP: No guilt felt.
    Over-rated: By journalists = TRE.

Best: would it suprise anyone on here if I said LTBR?

Worst: it changes but probably TRE today, only cause I tried listening to it the other day

Personal Fav: isn't that the same as best? LTBR

Guilty pleasure: FOTW. Sitting in my car, headbanging away like a retarded Rhesus Monkey, it sounds so wrong, but feels soooooooo right

Overrated: you fuckers will hate me but Powerage. Amazing album and all, but BIB and LTBR both cream it easily for me. Better than everything else the band have done bar those 2, but nowhere near as good as the fanboys say it is. Maybe a cd release of the 10 tracker might make me change my mind, although I suspect Jem will always leave me feeling it's overrated

I cannot even participate in this discussion as the inventor listed Ballbreaker as the worst!!! Blasphemy!!!
  2.
Best: Powerage, Pod your insane for thinking LTBR is better than Powerage. The tone is more powerful and the sound of the band is bigger.
    Worst: Blow Up Your Video
    Personal favorite: Powerage
Guilty pleasure: Not sure what this one means, I guess and underrated album you like which for me is Flick of the Switch
Overrated: None, I don't feel any AC/DC album is overrated, more are underrated.

Personal favorite: Flick Of The Switch
Guilty pleasure: Blow Up Your Video
    Overrated: Fly On The Wall
  5.
    Best - Back in Black
Worst - Dark Side of the Moon
Personal favorite - Flick of the Switch
    Guilty Pleasure - Ballbreaker
    Overrated - Powerage
  6.
Best - This one is always between Highway and BIB, but I pick Highway To Hell. It's the perfect rock album.
Worst - Stiff Upper Lip. Love the title track, and a few others, but not enough balls on it.
Personal Favorite - Fly on the Wall. Hardest rocking fuckin album I've ever heard. The guitar tone is nuts, and brian is screaming is eyes out. I love it.
Guilty Pleasure - 74 Jailbreak. Not a bad song on it.
Overrated - Blow Up Your Video. Aside from Heatseeker, TTWIWRNR, and This Means War, the rest is just a little bland for me.
  7.
Best - Gotta be Powerage, just had the edge iver HTH and BIB
    Worst - SUL maybe
Personal Fav - This changes a lot, overall i think it has to be Powerage
Guilty pleasure - BUYV! I think its an amazing album - great variety and the tone is great, just a shame about production
Ovverated - FOTS, lets face it every song is kind of the same, absolute kills like GFFH NS and THIOS but overall all the songs are just too alike
  8.
How in the hell is Powerage more overrated than Back in Black?

Yes, BiB is THE 'DC album, and every single song is absolutely perfect, but it is fucking overkill hearing one of those songs in a Wal Mart commercial every fucking second, with a Call of Duty commericial USING THE SAME SONG after that, etc. When was the last time you've ever heard something from Powerage anywhere?

Powerage is only overrated by fans like us. Back in Black is overrated by everyone and their fucking dog.

For the past few months, I have found myself enjoying Powerage less and less. Perhaps because I listened to it so much when I was younger. But a good portion of AC/DC fans rave on about it being THE best album ever made. It's still a great record and all, but I've grown out of it a tad. As for Back in Black, even though it's extremely overrated by the mainstream media, it has some killer fucking songs that most die hards tend to overlook since the album as a whole is so overrated.

I've also been really digging the production on BIB lately.
  10.
I have nothing against BiB itself, it's perfect in production and song writing. But less overrated than Powerage?

I don't blame the guys who say Powerage is the best album ever made. It has Bon's lyrical style, some of the best fucking songs ever, a raw but still "produced" sound, with only one filler song (CHM, which is good, but I skip it on most days). Plus the way Mal and Ang put songs together changed when Brian (or maybe Mutt) started working with AC/DC, which could be something that deters die hard away from BiB.

I grow out of the band on occasion rather than specific albums. Usually I just listen to other artists for a few months then come back to 'DC. At the moment Motorhead is what I've been listening too most, along with Green Day.
  11.
^ YES! Green Day! Awesome group. They're cool to hate for some reason though lol.

Mike Dirnt + whoever the drummer is are fucking godly and is why I listen to them. The band overall is easy to hate because Billie Joe is a 40 year old manchild, and all of them look like they just finished a shopping spree at their local Hot Topic. Kickass music though.

CHM is a standout track on the greatest rock and roll album ever made.

    BIB cannot be over-rated.
  15.
Best - Back in Black. Never get tired of this album. Every track is a 10/10. The production is timeless. If only Mal could swallow his pride and could get Mutt back. I never ever get tired of listening to this. The guitar tone is perfect, heavy but accessible. Has there ever been a better vocal performance on a rock album? This album along with HTH (and to some degree LTBR and IYWB) is the reason AC/DC will always be No1 for me.

    Personal fave- as above

Overrated - easy. Powerage. Mainly from listening to Jem wank on about it. I'm hardwired to basically disagree with everything Jem says ( and most other people, but especially Jem). Yes it's Bon's best set of lyrics. But it sounds a bit samey to my ears. KITTA? Isn't that just a retooled LTBR? And I'm probably the only person in this place who thinks DPB drags on a bit. Like Pod, (i must be fucking ill) if they brought out the original euro 10 tracker I grew up with then I might change my mind.

Worst- TRE. Some great tracks on it. But way way too much uninspired no thought given to it utter mediocre filler. And it doesn't swing.

Guilty Pleasure.- Black Ice. Again being king contrary man I feel the to defend this album. I like it, a lot in places.

Now lets stop talking about Green Day on this thread eh?

Don't faint but I agree with virtually everything there. (Which may now mean that you actually disagree with yourself)

Mal should get Mutt back. The guitar tone is perfect. It is the best vocal performance of all time.

It is Bon's set of best lyrics. KITT is a bit like LTBR. If they brought out the 10 track then you probably would change your mind. Which of course doesn't have the 'coda' on the end of DPB, which would mean it wouldn't drag on.

Let me rephrase that. CHM's chorus riff was improved for Flick's verse. The rest of CHM just drags imo. Carry Me Home would've been a better fit.

See I think CMH is very much a b-side and it does nothing for me whereas CHM is one of my favourite Bon era tracks :)
  18.
Kicked in the Teeth Again doesn't sound anything like LTBR. The song starts with vocals, shorter solo, different key, and different rhythm in the riff and drums. The only thing that I can think that is like LTBR is the guitars stop playing and Bon sings which only like the 3rd verse of LTBR.

KITT sounds a bit like LTBR because it is largely a charging rocker. Which is a good thing. Bon's performance makes this track.

If you'll pardon the expression, bollocks.

It might be the lesser track on Powerage but you tell Bon it's filler. Listen to his vocal. He fucking means it. No filler.

You can't have that on the same album as Gone Shootin', Sin City, Rock n Roll Damnation, and Down Payment Blues, and tell me it's not there just to have another track.

KITT is the most energetic track on Powerage (and possibly the whole catalog of Bon era songs) with the best solo ever recorded for album by Angus. No song, on an album, has the same intensity Teeth has.

No, but you said Kicked begins with vocals...it doesn't....the US version of Powerage is bastardised. The one we got in 78 is how it's meant to sound, somebody fucked with it before it was released on the US market.
