  5.
    One of 2012's best
  6.
Love these guys. Wanna see them live really bad as well. They should tour with Airbourne, would be a great rock n roll show

They just toured here with a great UK band 'The Temperance Movement'.

Can't believe I didn't get this band straightaway.

I bought the deluxe edition of their first album (Pressure And Time) last Christmas, and it's amazing. Haven't bought Head Down yet, but I sure will. They are definitely my second favourite band nowadays, right after Airbourne.

Check them out live, because they're EVEN better. I saw this video a few days ago, and I was completely amazed by their performance

Just been watching this. Heads Down is a masterpiece. In terms of newish bands they are probably top of the heap.

    Jay's voice is untouchable.
  7.
Jay is a killer frontman also. He's actually a FRONTMAN and his voice is top notch. A band with a GOOD frontman is so rare now-a-days. I'm gonna need to find one...

P&T is actually their second album. Their debut was Before the Fire from 2009. P&T is my favourite of the 3 easily. It's very short, but a cracker. Live, so far I only caught them in 2011 supporting Judas Priest. Didn't think that much to them, but then it wasn't really their sort of crowd and it can't be easy being 1st on in a night of 3 bands.

    Better than Airbourne?

If I just want to get drunk and behave badly then Airbourne probably win. But if you look at them as a band and their range then Airbourne can't really compete except at 'hard rocking'.

Rival Sons are potentially a proper band. Not just the next best thing to AC/DC when they were great. I'm still not sure that Airborne will ever escape that shadow.

So in English, yes they are better then. In your opinion of course :)

Not sure I agree though with your rationale myself, as RS are clearly living in the equally large shadow of Led Zeppelin. A fact that isn't helped by their singer who clearly fancies himself as Robert Plant and Jim Morrison's love child when you see him live.

Caught them live twice now, both as supports, one was to Black Stone Cherry can't remember the other one. I thought they were pretty shite, but then i never give support acts much attention unless they make my feet tap....whilst in the bar hic!
  8.
This track reminds me of The Stones, guitar riff wise:

Tough question, Airbourne or Rival Sons...I don't think I can answer that yet. Maybe in 10 years

As I have really only listened properly to Heads Down despite having bought all three albums as they came out I can only really comment on that one record. And I would say that that is one of the most varied rock and roll records I have heard in ages. On that record I felt the influence of The Doors (but only in the occasional feel rather than anything derivative), The Animals, Cream more of that kind of vibe than Zeppelin, there's the odd splash of the Stones, but these splashes tend to be on an odd track, never dominate, and then the next track is something else. More sixties than seventies but also bringing their own thing to it. Which means that they take you on a more varied journey than say Airbourne, it's hard to say better because I love the racket that Airbourne make. Different.
  9.
Pressure and Time is really the only song I have heard by them that just screams Zeppelin and it's one favorite one.

Take what I said back. Thanks Jem.
  11.
I'm with Jem on this one...but with a touch less of the usual Jem hyperbole.
For me Head Down is a step up from Pressure & Time, there are simply more better songs on HD.

And while I think Wild Horses has been done to death, have a listen at the 4:45 mark.

I'm still not overly taken with it. I hear too many influences in every song, to the point where it sounds like a multi-tribute album.
Not denying they are a good band. Live, they are mustard, just the new album hasn't got me yet.
  17.
I want to like Rival Sons and they are undoubtedly a decent, competent band but I do find them slightly generic and dull. A bit like latter day Pearl Jam, it’s quality material that’s inarguably well written and produced but it lacks that spark of danger/originality/uniqueness. They feel like a sincere, well-meaning composite of better bands.
  18.
They're a decent band, but something is lacking to me. Saw them live once and that was also bland.
