I love Ballbreaker.
Fave track is probably Burning Alive, I love AC/DC songs that take bit longer to get going.
The production gets roundly slated but Ballbreaker is a very intimate bluesy sounding album.
Posted By: Alex LebanonThe title track remains their greatest post BIB song IMHO. One of the toughest riffs they ever cooked up.
Posted By: LondonOntarioHard As A Rock.
Great riffs and a steamroller of a track.
Epic anthem.
Posted By: WarMachine73Best last song of any Brian album and potentially any ACDC album.

I'd say it's a tie between this and Night Prowler.

I think you might be underselling it a bit.
Posted By: St. LooyBetween the summers of 95 and 96 was the best year of my life. I've far too many memories of personal importance to be able to really be objective with the whole scenario. Looking back it seems like I was rather involved in much of what went on, although some memories I still can't truly believe myself, certainly not enough to share openly. It was just one long ride, from sitting in Part Rock's office in London listening to a strange looking CD of the album, which I later realised was a CDr, that was the only copy in the country, copied direct from the DAT that at that moment was on it's way to the pressing plant, right through to Mal saying such kind things about, and to, me in Bordeaux as I left the tour for an uncertain future.
For me it was simple: The BIB line-up re-united and rocking the world - can't be beaten.
Posted By: Demon FireBest album ever, don't care who disagrees lol. I love every single song and I play the whole thing all the way through all the time. I think the guitar tones on this record are the best Malcolm and Angus ever had. To my ears, they are on fire on this album. Favorite song and favorite song period is Hard As A Rock. Best riff ever in that one. The production sounds great. It's a very bluesy and well, sleazy sounding record and I love that. The Furror is a beast of a song and sounds very ominous. Burning Alive is an incredible track as is Ball Breaker, the title track. Caught With Your Pants Down also rocks and I love the start/stop at the beginning of the song. I could go on but I just love this album.
Posted By: WarMachine73I notice you’ve stopped your review before you get to the songs which should never have been released under a young / young collaboration.

He also stopped his review without mentioning the title track which is the only decent song on the album.
Posted By: mutt_langes_permGreat interview with Brian from Sept. 1995:

Interest quote from Brian about the retirement rumors at the time:
"If I got old and me voice didn't work and I refused to go on the road 'cause I didn't want to make a cunt out of myself in front of the fans, then they'll get another singer. AC/DC are too big. If Angus left, then that's a different story and the band is built around Angus' image."
Posted By: St. LooyGoulash! Still can't work out how to do this yellow quote thing :-)
And those were just three things during only two weeks!
BB Kings - what a night? Walked in for free while everyone else was paying. Drank beer all evening to a caberet act of you abusing Oliver Stone. Then we refused to pay for the beer as we'd not ordered it (as they'd taken adventage of tourists as far as we were concerned). So we were asked to leave, which is what we were doing, and then we were banned from the club for life...
What wasn't to like? As I said, great year :-)
Posted By: carlos fandangoStrange time for AC/DC. After becoming massive again on the back of Thunderstruck and the TRE tour I expected things to kick up a notch especially with Phil Rudd coming back on board. What actually happened was a bit anti-climactic in my opinion. The album which had apparently taken ages to record ended up sounding a bit flat to my ears. Waaaay too fucking dry. The songs as well weren't quite there, title track apart. The subsequent stories of the issues they had with Rick Rubin has probably got a bit to do with the final product. Some of the lyrics were also a bit near the knuckle, too filthy. You can get away with filth if there is a wink and a cheeky grin, but there was none of that here. Maybe Bon's way with the same lyrics might have given them a different feel. But the result was a bit too crude for me.
The album failed to take off like TRE did, but then again there wasn't a stand out single on Ballbreaker. Sales in comparison to its predecessor were weak.
They never fail to deliver on tour and their performances on the Ballbreaker were no different. They were brilliant as usual. I saw them twice on this tour, Newcastle and Birmingham. Birmingham was a sell out but Newcastle was barely half full. I think they had attendance issues on some of the other dates. I seem to remember Ulster talking about them condensing the Belfast and Dublin gig into just the one show. How can you go from the hottest ticket just 4-5 years early to not even getting anywhere near selling out the frontman's hometown gig? Apparently Brian was mortified. They've never been near Newcastle since. Ballbreaker the album - underwhelming.
