      AC/DC rock music: Zan

I started a thread earlier about favorite bands besides AC/DC. Nearly everyone answered with a rock band, me included.
But I'm sure many of you here, like me, listen to a lot of music that is not Rock N Roll.

My favorite genre besides rock is Country and Folk, which I like as much as I like rock. I particularly like "real" country music like George Jones, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, as well as a lot of folk singer/songwriters like John Prine, Leonard Cohen and John Denver, just to name a few examples.

    What are your favorites?
  1.
Music that can be found in the first generation erotic movies. Is there a "Best Of" anywhere?

You mean like funk bands? Those soundtracks are great.

Yeah, kind of. Just "porn music", I guess!
  3.
I just like music. I really don’t like bunging bands into genres or trying to pigeon hole them into pointless categories.

Just like what you like. Even if it’s universally loathed by others.

    Who cares!

Sure! But if someone is maybe an expert on jazz or classical music, it's always fun to hear about it!

Besides what I mentioned earlier, this guy was good, for example:

  5.
    Is this a retoric question?

In case It is not, the answer is NO.

    Well kids music with the kids, but there we rock out as well;

Drummer is a lot like Rudd
  6.
The singer seems mentally ill, really.

You should see a doctor about that incontinence. I'm not sure what it may be a symptom of.

This is what I'm talking about! Nobou Uematsu is my favorite composer of all time. His music brings tears to my eyes like nothing else.

I like rock and classical music. Well soundtracks also. Especially the soundtracks by John Carpenter. Although my favorites are Howard Shore's soundtracks for The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit.
  15.
    Does metal count? ;)

Really, for me it'd be film scores and videogames soundtracks as others mentioned. Some truly spectacular music in both realms

Even though Rock is my favourite style of music I have a very wide and diverse taste in music and I think that's the best way to be, to open your mind to different styles and broaden your horizons, we should all listen to different music as much as possible.
In addition to Rock (or Rock n Roll) I also love Blues and Jazz music as well as some of the old 70's Funk music. I'm a huge fan of Musical Artists like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, BB King, Muddy Waters, Albert King, Gary More, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder and many others that revolutionised their style of music or were just simply masters of it. I also don't mind some electronica music, not so much the top 40 electronica pop music but some of the underground fusion styles of electronica like Jazz House and some of the Funk House is very cool. I encourage people to listen to St Germaine, very cool.
Overall though, Rock is king for me but the old Blues and Jazz are not far behind at all.

I listen to oldschool hip hop quite a bit. Before rock, that was all I listened to. Like Mati, I'll also link my oldschool hip hop playlist here if anyone wants to open an ear to something else: https://open.spotify...
For some reason, I am sure some old farts here wouldn't find Rakim too bad.

I have to admit, I also listen to pop from time to time. Nothing too bad, just some nostalgic songs from early 2010s.

    Ouch.

    On a serious note:

    Johnny Cash. Daft Punk.
  20.
I'm a full-time writer & can't write to anything with lyrics so most of what I listen to is Ambient stuff - Eno & Aphex Twin in particular. iTunes tells me I have listened to this track more than any other since 2007:

Well said. Uematsu is where its at. The sound to listen to while you stare at the great depths of the universe and just wonder.
  22.
I like listening to Jazz FM, love anything pop or anything 70's (Motown, soul etc), bit of disco/dance music when having a party. I'm a big fan of modern country, i like the traditional/rock inspired artists like Cody Jinks, Midland, Luke Combs, Brad Paisley, Brothers Osborne, Ashley Mcbryde, Eric Church, Brooks & Dunn. So basically not the pop country stuff but also not the hardcore country, as much as i admire Hank, Cash etc, i don't particularly enjoy the original 50's/60's studio versions of those tracks just because of how old the production sounds and how far things have come since then.

Late 60's / early 70's was the pinnacle of recording studio sound, if you ask me. How they managed to fuck that up, I don't know.

These days, I'll listen to anything. In fact of late, been listening to a lot of stuff I wouldn't have given the time of day to back in the day, when it was actually prominent.

Also, I do love a good Podcast! Evil Genius being my favourite.

I wish I could say Classical or Jazz, but no, it's all hard rock and metal for me.

Being fair though, I like Vivaldi, once in a while. I also like early Michael Jackson. Bite me.
