Oh, come on. Your argument is "everyone knows my interpretation is right"? Seriously?

In that case, everyone knows Bruce is taking the piss.

Posted By: soulstripper666Maiden could say that up until around '88. After that I'm happy if their albums contain one really great song that doesn't repeat itself to death musically and lyrically.

I agree on the repetition. But the quality is there despite it, especially on AMOLAD if you ask me. Paschendale is something of a modern classic I'd say.

Don't know much about Bruce or Ozzy taking the piss, but Be Quick or Be Dead shits on everything.

I love how you act like being there gives you mind-reading capability to divine Bruce's intent.

Oh, and let's say I was at Ozzy's show so I can just shut you down and say he was insulting his fans. Then what?

Have I stumbled on to a socialist worker forum by accident :-) Arguably if Bruce was growing up these days he would be metropolitan champagne socialist and Ozzy would be a tory. Topsy turvy world.

The Labour Party seem to represent the middle class city dwellers, and the current Conservatives have the backing of the old red wall. Just look at Blyth, Northumberland.

I met Bruce once whilst waiting for an autograph signing at Newcastle City Hall in the 80s. I can only have been about 14, and tried to chat to him about where they were playing football. I cant remember his exact reply but it was pretty condescending particularly to a youngster. Good to hear that my initial thoughts of him being a knob weren't far from the truth.

In unrelated news, Kevin Keegan once waved to me when he was coming down the hill into Morpeth in a little sports car back in the 80s. Love that guy.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Behave. Those fucking ‘red wall’ morons were all sold on the Brexit shit no more no less. And they’re all reaping what they sowed.

Sadly so are the rest of us.

Legend has it that Kevin was a role model and trigger for the Hair Metal movement.

Getting wildly off topic here by Jonnya is right. Neither Labour or Conservative serve the same demographics they traditionally did. Labours core vote in 2021 is city based, relatively affluent, university educated and under 35. Meanwhile the "working class" vote has gone wildly in the Tories direction. The Conservatives were quicker to realise the game has changed and capitalise on that shift in polarity. We'll find out for sure tomorrow but it doesn't look like that drift is going to stop anytime soon and it may be the damage Corbyn did to Labour was fatal with them needing to start all over again with a "new" party like they did under Blair.

Back on topic...Final Frontier is a very underated Maiden album.

Corbyn was what I liked about Labour, no trying to be middle ground.

Unlike the wet cunt Starmer, he’s just a Tory in disguise.

If anyone could challenge Boris for useless cunt of the year it’s Starmer.

Frontier had some good stuff on it, but also started the excessively long songs that ruined Book of Souls IMO. Coming Home and Mother of Mercy were good shorter ones. Isle of Avalon is great despite the length.

Met him once, very up himself and self important/egotistic, didn’t like him, could imagine him playing the ‘do you know who i am card’ at an airport check in/on a plane/at a hotel check in

Grossly overated too, Paul Di’Anno was a better singer and did better songs

It was a step up when they got Bruce even if Dianno was good. Later Bruce wasn’t as good, perhaps he matches the music of late Maiden well in that sense.

First two Maiden albums were the best for sure. Not that I even particularly liked them

They've certainly aged the best. And if Di'Anno hadn't fucked up, and had been the vocalist on TNOTB, I think it would have aged better in retrospect.

Have you heard Dianno since leaving Maiden? IDK what happened but he can't sing to save his life anymore. He was great on the first two albums though.

I loved the Dianno albums, but boy did he let himself go somewhat after leaving Maiden...

Actually despite being pissed, you can still hear the power in his voice.

Bruce was always full of energy on stage. Then, he announced he was leaving on 1993. Once. Word was out he just went through the motions and made it obvious that he didn't want to be onstage with the band. It was awful.
Then, after his solo career went tits up and Maiden were playing tiny clubs in America, they reformed and their popularity went stratospheric. You'd have thought that this would have made him appreciate the fans but apparently not.
  13.
He’s a wee dick. I wish he’d fly that plane right up his own arse.
  14.
I am an Iron Maiden fan but I've read some stories about him that made me think he might not be a great person. Looks like this thread confirms it.

by the way, if you read the Derek Riggs interviews from many years back (now hard to find) the whole of IM and their management were complete cocks !!!
  15.
He’s not the only one who’s a dick in the band for sure.

But not being a fan it doesn’t concern me.

Number of the Beast shits all over the first 2 records, Hallowed be thy Name is a hardrock classic up there with virtually anything else.

    INVADERS!!! Pillaging!

GANGLAND!!!! Where the jail birds die!!!

You sure about that mate? TNOTB hasn't really aged well at all compaired to the first two albums. The title track sounds really cartoonish instead of nightmarish, and the corny Run to the Hills was even lampooned by Metallica in '87.

DICKinson is just too operatic/dramatic. Maiden had some punk elements in their sound before Bruce came on board, which gave them more street cred.

    Not Powerslave?

It’s one thing not to like Bruce Dickinson but saying that The Number of the Beast didn’t age well is a complete madness. Every single album Martin Birch worked on is a sonic perfection.

    CAN I PLAY WITH MADNESS???

TNOTB didn't age as well as the first too. Iron Maiden and Killers sound a lot cooler than Number of the Beast in 2021. A lot of it has to do with the punkness and Di'Anno's vocals. Songs like Gangland, 22 Acacia Avenue and even TNOTB with Di'Anno on lead vocals would sound even better imo.

Well, if we're being honest, there are also a few fillers on TNOTB (Invaders, Gangland) & Piece of Mind (Quest for Fire, Sun and Steel).

Isn't Iron Maiden about as close as you can get when it comes to a real band being similar to Spinal Tap?

The Number of the Beast is very Spinal Tapish indeed.

Powerslave, Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. I remember sitting in a room with Russ Parrish now in Steel Panther on an open guitar jam session where he stated that that song was pure Spinal Tap. He also praised Phil Rudd.
