Check it REALLY thoroughly with as many hi-def pics as possible before you part with any cash. When you're confident, then it's your call...

On that front you'll have to start defining your own reality. It's something we've all had to learn. The only fair price is one you're happy with, if it costs more than that, then you have to accept that and walk away.
Sorry there's no fixed answer, all part of the game!

Very wise words. If something comes up for sale on eBay then the buyer often pays more than anyone else is prepared to pay and so technically is paying over the odds except.... it's what the buyer feels it's worth.
The items in my collection that would sell on the open market for thousands are actually worthless because I'm not prepared to sell them.

Would that happen to be 'If You Want Blood' Dutch Splatter or is it '12 Of The Best'? Or maybe both?? ;-)

Yeah mate, the IYWB. I haven't got the 12 Of The Best and wouldn't buy one now because I could never be sure it was genuine.

Yes agree, that's what makes it hard to buy memorabilia. I have some really nice rare and signed items that I know are authentic but I once got scammed and it really pissed me off and upset me so it's now left me very cautious. Fortunately for me though I eventually got my money back. I'd love an IYWB Dutch Splatter but I find the price has gone crazy high but it's still one of the few pieces of memorabilia I'd seriously consider digging into my pockets for if one came available. You've done very well to get your hands on one of those.

The IYWB has gone sky high but at least it's really difficult, if not impossible, to forge and so at least you know it'll be genuine.
I nearly didn't get the IYWB because the seller wanted £82 for it and I turned him down. He then offered to throw in a free copy of the Dutch Beating Around The Bush 7" and so I said OK. Thank God I did.
I'm lucky enough to have obtained my memorabilia and autographs in person but it angers me when I hear about fans getting scammed. Glad you got it sorted.

Mrs Ghoulash will have the mother of all problems when you pop your clogs :)

On test pressings, its really tricky to value them. Sure, by definition, they are super rare, but they rarely, if ever, seem to get get the attention of less rare items like Dutch Splatter, because they were not official releases as such and so don't get much attention. LTBR Presswell seems to be a notable exception to this rule, but can't think of others. Interested to hear others views on this.

    Spot on mate.
I'm thinking that I may have to appoint a fellow collector as executor of my estate.... you know who you are :-)

I mentioned above LTBR Presswell as being one of the better known test pressings, and out of curiosity I checked Discogs.

    https://www.discogs....

Only 7 people seem to have it (way below the far more expensive Splatter) yet the highest sold price is "only" £304. Actually compared to the far less scarce Splatter, this is a good price. Shows that test pressings shouldn't command huge prices, although I have seen some of the early Albert records test pressings being marketed for eye popping amounts.

I hope this analysis validates my claim to be the most suitable person here to manage Ghoulash's estate when he finally expires :))))
