Good shout. Ginger is the man even though he's always been fucking rude about the Rolling Stones. Not sure he's underrated though - not by anyone with any taste any way. :)

No, maybe not underrated if you know your music, but more along the lines of the twin bass drum set up, which is largely credited to him. It makes his influnce immense within say metal, where every drummer
has the same rig. Yeah, Ginger had little respect for Bonham as well, regarded by many as THE drummer.

Read a truly depressing interview with him a couple of years back. The interviewer wanted to talk about past musical glories, Ginger just wanted to vent about how he was broke, living in rented accommodation etc.. having sunk his last cash from the Cream reunion into some misguided polo club or something equally bizarre. Couldn’t help feeling sorry for him.

Hah Clem Burke - he was also Elvis Ramone. Played two shows and got fired. Couldnt keep up and said they were the two hardest shows he ever did. There are clips on YouTube, shows how hard it was to play the Ramones in the correct manner for a otherwise pro drummer.

Didn't know that Ginger Baker is underrated. I always was under the impression that he was widely recognized as a great drummer.

The same goes for gingerbread biscuits - definitely really good but perhaps not enough people in this era realise the fact.

Ringo's son Zak Starkey is great, been drumming for The Who for years and doing a helluva job

Also on a serious note; gotta.say Steven Adler. He had the swing and finesse you do not learn in any school. The guy played one somg on the use your illusions and it was by far the best drumming on those albums. Shame that drugs got the best of him, thou he is playing pretty good these days again
