Again it depends on yor definition of "underrated". On your list I probably wouldn't consider Cozy or Bill Ward as underrated, they're acknowledged superstars.
Vinny Appice is an interesting one. I'm no drummer but I've heard a wide range of opinions of him from great to being a joke. Not much swing to my ears and looks as stiff as an ironing board when he plays. I'd like to hear feedback from drummers on here about him.
Maybe I would add Clive Burr to the list.

the late Scott Columbus. I think Manowar treated him badly, although one never knows what really happens behind the scenes with that band. Loved the early Manowar stuff.

Ian Paice also...but would hardly call him under-rated.

Agree also on Clive Burr. He became a somewhat forgotten part of the IM history, but played on 3 mega-albums. A very worthy mention (Nikko is bloody good too, but I think he is pretty well recognised)

What would be more interesting is an "over-rated drummer" thread. Could start with Ringo and Lars.

Herman Rarebell was good in The Scorpions.

Interesting fact: his real name is Herman Cowbell but he changed it as they thought it would be too comical for a drummer.

And Rarebell isn't?...... hahahahahahaha. Maybe because in Dutch this is very funny.

LOL. Did you know that Klaus Meine's real name is actually Minstrel? He changed it for the same reason.

Awesome drummer. Such an interesting feel to everything he does, totally suits the inventive nature of Ed's guitar riffs.

I remember Herman Rarebell (in Dutch weirdbell) having a solo song as Herman Ze German haha. Playing somewhere on the beach or so. I then assumed he was a big star in those days, not really knowing him.

Terry Bozzio must be just the oposite drummer of Phil Rudd. Less is best for Phil but more is better for this guy.

I'm going to name two ladies: Meg White and Sarah Jones.

    Somebody had to say it.

But back to AJ Pero, he was the man. Left way to early, love his playing - the only true instrumental talent on Twisted Sister (of well Mendoza is a good bassist)

And I do think that Richie Ramone was the best Ramones drummer, tech wise, but Marky Ramone is far better than most think as well:

I agree on Meg White. Very nice thump and swing.
    Steve Gorman - black crowes
    Ringo star
    Steve Johnson - alabama shakes
    Steve Jordan

I would agree on AJ Pero and Frank Beard. Both have a distinctive sound that doesn't get much credit. Of course, this is in this genre of music. There are a bunch of other drummers out there in other genres who don't get the credit they deserve.
  14.
    Frank Beard is awesome.
  15.
Ginger Baker, who had a massive impact on Frank Beard by the way.

    Good one.

Also Mitch Mitchell, who had a fantastic energy which seemed to punctuate and accentuate Hendrix' songs, without getting in the way of anything.
