Posted By: SpellboundI personally think they're as overrated as a band can get. Not a patch on what came after them.Agreed.

Posted By: angus5041No easybeats no acdc it has been said many times
Posted By: ThankassSome points that pop up in my mind:
- songwriters with a gift for catchy melody and arrangements
- songs that are more complicated than you expect on first listen
- in the begining doing the same as all the other great bands in the 60s did; play music that was influenced by their '50s heroes, especially Berry. So not exceptional but screaming girls just made their statue bigger than they would earn with their music only.
- extended their musical horizon in the later stage of their career and being the first to fully use the studio tricks in their music. That made them the most influencial band in pop music. They were the godfathers of pop music if you like
- made some terrific albums in a row in the mid and late sixties.
I appreciate and like much of their work.
Posted By: shockerOVERRATED!!!! Indeed they. I think their music is simple dull.so, this dull music was the most influential for a whole generation that came after..
But they came early. They were pioneers and a great influence and inspiration for other bands.
The Beatles changed the music world forever.

Posted By: Spellboundbut we probably can conclude that a lot of bands and artists that came after the beatles, think otherwise and don't share this opinion of the beatles being dull. You don't get the label most influential band in pop music for nothing.Posted By: ThankassPosted By: shockerOVERRATED!!!! Indeed they. Let me out it like this.
Their music aged like milk.
Citizen Kane is by far the most revolutionary film of all time - does that mean I have to like what is essentially a boring as fuck movie? God no.

Posted By: Mike206Even the early Beatles, well prior to their maturation as songwriters, is outstanding ... a lot of their early covers are unsurpassed decades later.
Twist and Shout ... if there's a better version than the Beatles' I'd like to hear it. <...Crickets...>
The Chuck Berry covers are also timeless ... Roll and Roll Music, Roll Over Beethoven ... BRILLIANT. Compare that to the (cough) School Days by a certain other act, blows them away.
Posted By: SpellboundNot a patch on what came after them.
Posted By: benjiAll I will say is that I am 23 years old, so clearly you didn't "have to be there to understand it". Oh yeah, and one more thing, I appreciate The Beatles these days much much more than I do AC/DC
Posted By: GShootinThe genius of AC/DC has never been all about the Youngs. NEVER.
Angus, Malcolm and George may disagree of course.
Posted By: benjiThe fact that hardcore AC/DC fans, who admire the intricacies and craftsmanship of Malcolm and Angus' songs, can sit there and completely disrespect and depreciate The Beatles is completely beyond me. I won't waste my time typing out my full thoughts on the subject, as it is simply not worth wasting my time and effort doing so, only to have someone like GShootin make some snide remark in response. Seriously mate, think before you type.

You'll grow out of it.
