    Hi,

Reluctantly thinking about selling my 'Let There Be Rock' purple sleeve South African LP to help pay for a ticket for a Wembley which I missed. Sleeve is EX++, vinyl NM condition. Any idea on its value at present? Early 1980 stamper date.

    Cheers

Apparently they go up to $500.

Oh boy, if I had the cash...

I will go a lot higher than that, but I'm not telling what my highest bid will be!

Paid $150-00 for mine. It is worth what people are willing to pay.

No. Let There Be Rock was only issued once in South Africa. Prices are $2-300 for VG quality and $300+ for EX and above.
  5.
so what is the standard LTBR SA version if not an original ?

The standard LTBR SA is the green/purple cover.

thanks MB ,,so the normal red lettering LTBR is a 2nd issue/re-issue ??

I'm not sure that's actually correct. I've always thought the red lettering LTBR was the original, and the green/purple cover a later reissue.

Oh, well I may be wrong, but I have always tought (based on the information I have gathered) that the green/purple was first pressing and then the normal cover a reissue.

The South Africa was a mistake wasn't it?

Misprinted and then corrected later on if I am not mistaken.

    The buyer must be mad

It’s a great item but worth half that at the most.

anyway, imo, that's a more and more wanted item, many people in the last years have starting interest on old vinyl staff, and thats a classic. EX cond will be now 500 at less, im pretty sure you can find easy a buyer for that amount, especially if code is 80 and cond are EX.
