    Crispy/Nitro: How bout mastering Let it Loose and Alright Tonight?

    Give it a go and see what happens. I know that this is probably an impossible task, but it seems like it would be interesting if you tried this. Obviously I'm not saying to make it HTH production quality, but it would be cool to see if you guys could clean these tracks up a bit. WHADDAYA THINK!?

    Winner gets Jessica Biel for the weekend.

    ...haha I know its practically impossible, but it sure would separate the men from the boys. Might as well take a swing at Messin with the Kid too, while you're at it. You're job on SINYC was quite impressive, so I'm kickin' it up a notch.

    Of course,I didn't do much to it,because I just wanted to upload it at the time,I might take another crack at it.

    BFET:

    I actually was just going to do what you've asked,try to improve Let It Loose and Alright Tonight.I'm thinking the doubling of tracks and Equalizing it like I did with the albums should help a lot,I'll see what I can do soon.

    The trouble with those tracks is that the vocals are so buried, the guitars are on top of them so any guitar 'cancellation' takes away from the vocals...

    Nitro, what do you mean when you Double the tracks? when i do it (i use wavepad alot BTW) i just go into a noise reducer until i get the vocal/guitar mix right, but, I'd like to know your method...if your not afraid of giving away the secret recipe ;)

    No secret really,I can tell my method but it can't be copied exactly unless you've got my exact EQ settings ;)

    I Equalize the track I'm editing,and then layer the original un-touched track over it.

    So what you get is the equalized vocals that are much louder and the guitars and other instruments from the un-touched track sound basically the same or better.It keeps them from being quiet like in my first mixes I posted and not so "dry" sounding.



    That's what method all my "Fan" mixed albums were done with,I can't say my settings though,I'd have to kill you

    I use Audacity Beta 1.3

    Also,I agree the vocals are almost "blurry" in Messin' With Kid,very hard to improve.

    and for what it's worth,

    All boots and songs I edit are lossless,so I can have as little digital noise as possible,when using mp3's I tend to hear the noise and It really irritates me.

    I got a FLAC Flick Tour Rehearsals from Black Ice Bootlegs,it's the exact same speed as the video so it's no issue syncing if you're curious.

    It's seriously almost impossible,I'm going to keep trying but I can't get it to sound much different

    don't hold your breath Nitro on the Biel front. nothing is guaranteed more to have her running for the hills than the prospect of long and deep conversations about lossless rips, FLAC's and EQ settings...

    Alright Nitro, thats what i figured. i do kind of the same except i create two seperate EQed mixes and put them together. i also try to use Noise Reduction on Wavepad to remove some of the Guitar and/or vocals i don't want. as for these Demos, I'm afraid there isnt much that can be done, because of the quality of the vocals. i can make it sound somewhat cleaner, but the vocals are way to buried to bring them out so to speak, but i'll keep trying. i'm going to be doing Borrowed Time, Borderline, and Snake eyes sometime too...

    It's not so much as they're buried,it's the echo/crappy quality of the demo

    I've not gave up yet,but I'm really doubting I can fix them much

    Yeah i havent gave up yet. i can make the instrumentals sound great, but the vocals are the problem.

    If your talking about the Borrowed Time, it was the original, i made a mistake, but DOTB i got rid of alot of guitar echo, and brought the drums up and cleaned up their sound in the mix. i tried to clear up the vocals a bit too.

    DOTB sounds great! Brians vocals sound a little less echoy. Good form. I'd imagine theres some software out there to make AT & LIL a little better. Something more than equalizations...

    I'd imagine Adobe Audition could do more,I had it once but deleted it to free up space on my hard drive.

    It's also confusing/complicated

    Maybe we need to find someone with a little more knowledge on this stuff than me and Crispy.

    I was working on this yesterday! i almost have it! i have descovered a thing on Wavepad to isolate vocals and drums pretty much, but the quality is so bad it takes alot of editing to make it sound decent. but i haven't forgotten!

    I don't use it for talking to people,just file trasfer and instant message.I don't even have a microphone or webcam,so i couldn't do that crap,lol.

    It' nice to send people stuff very quickly though.

    Maybe call it "enhance" them.Audacity is fun and useful once you get used to it.

    The guitars in your version sound a bit different than the Alright Tonight I have on my iPod. Did you mess with them much? I think they sound better than on the one I have.

    I did a bunch to it,actually,lol.EQing it will change the guitars a bit,if done enough.

    Apparently the version I used is slower than some other versions around.

    Same quality sound wise though.

    This is what I can make out of the lyrics,I'm sure some of them are wrong.I couldn't get some of them,so I left them blank.In the beginning of the song I thought it was "Wanna Go",but "Wanna Flow" sounds more like what Brian's saying.Listen to it and read my lyrics,see if you can help fill in the blanks.
